Mildred A. Burge

Founder & CEO

Mildred A. Burge

I was born in Los Angeles, California, named after my paternal grandmother Mildred B. Burge, the sixth child of eight, in a single parent household. My mother was a loving hard working parent yet due to economic hardships, many struggles, and traumatic occurrences succumbed to mental illness. There were times where there was plenty and then there were times when we were hungry and depended on the meals provided at school, without electricity and running water, and at times dressed in tattered clothes.

In spite of adversity and the many twists and turns in our lives my siblings and I thrived to educate ourselves, and find our way in society. We were blessed to have many mentors in our lives to help us along the way.

At the present I am a resident of Long Beach, California, retired employee of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, retired Foster Parent, and an advocate for children, a business owner, an entrepreneur, and the little girl in tattered clothes who society told that she would never be nothing. I am the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Seeds of Morning Glory, Inc.

“My passion for the wellbeing of the most vulnerable is drawn from the shadows of my past. Because I was given much, it is my destiny to give back by sowing seeds into the lives of others.”
